Blandford Forum is one of the best preserved Georgian towns in the country.
This came about as a result of the disastrous fire in 1731 which destroyed nearly all of the town.
The Bastard brothers, John and William, helped to rebuild the town and much of their work and influence can still be seen in the town centre.
The Market Place contains six Grade 1 Listed Buildings and there are over thirty Grade 2 Listed Buildings in the immediate vicinity.
The Church of St. Peter and St Paul graces one end of the Market Place, completed in 1739 it is one of the finest churches of that period.
