Services
Georgesons currently have three offices in Wick, Thurso & Tain.
We deal with estate agency, property factoring & leasing.
Our solicitor, Georgesons Solicitors, deal with Wills, Power of Attorney, Trusts, Planning issues, executry's, commercial leasing, purchasing, sale and transfer of properties and family law.
The firm was formerly known as D W Georgeson & Son and was formed in 1887 by Daniel Wares Georgeson in the busy fishing port of Wick.
The firm was inherited by Daniel's son, Harold, after distinguished service in the First World War.
Homebuyers, perhaps many hundreds of miles away can now see your property as if they were there.
The videos are created with professional equipment, by fully trained staff, FREE of charge to you.
Easy access for buyers who will be served by our friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff.
In addition to our website, your property will be marketed through the Caithness Solicitors Property Journal and the CPJ website at a LOW monthly cost.
We have negotiated a very LOW PRICE for adverts in the Groat, Courier and Northern Times, with the 3rd advert FREE of charge to you.
The Home Report is paid for by the seller who, through their agent, arranges for a Chartered Surveyor to provide the Single Survey and Energy Report and must, themselves, complete the Property Questionnaire.
The cost of a Single Survey and Energy Report will be set by individual surveying firms and vary according to the size of the property.
Georgesons have negotiated an exceptional deal and, at the time of writing, have the most inexpensive reports on the market.
Please contact Karen in Wick and Lorna in Thurso for details, if you are considering selling.
Disclaimer: The information on these pages is necessarily general and commonsense dictates that you should take legal or other advice before acting upon it.
No solicitor/client relationship is created by the reading of the pages.
Once you have a found a property in which you are interested you should contact a Solicitor so that an offer can be made for the house.
Formerly all offers had to be made in writing as a handshake had no legal significance in Scotland, however, this is no longer the case.
Buying a home is unlike almost any other purchase you will make.
Instead of expecting your home to depreciate in value like a car or a washing machine you expect it to increase in value, but unlike any normal investment, such as a savings account, an insurance policy, or stocks and shares, you expect to have the everyday use of your ''money'' in the form of the house or flat you are living in.
Buying property is also more complicated than most of the other purchases you will make.
You will probably be committing yourself to a loan for anything from 15 to 25 years, to constant insurance premiums, maintenance costs, and of course all the ''optional extras'' such as furnishings, decoration, etc.
